Review
Old Blood is the first Fixture release from Dirty Beaches. Dirty Bewaches is the main recording project of Alex Zhang Hungtai, a lo-fi recording artist and sailor at heart. Born in Taiwan and raised between Toronto and Hawaii, Dirty Beaches’ first release, Old Blood reflects an ongoing displacement, empowered by the memory of friends. Recorded with a shoebox tape recorder and ibook G4, Dirty Beaches’ baritone melodies wander through shored tape fuzz while delicate fragments jangle under the waves.
